Parian Porcelain figure of Saint Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc (1412 - 1431), the pious maid of Orleans is captured in full plate mail, holding her sword across her chest with her head bowed. Her gauntlets and her helmet can be seen removed and placed next to her on the tree stump as she pauses in prayer.
Contrary to popular belief Joan of Arc was not canonised until 1920, but has forever captured the romantic imagination of people with her exploits and sacrifice during the Middle Ages.
The full figure is circa. 1880 with a stunningly high level of detail.
