Parian Bust of Lord Kitchener
A celbrated soldier and a decorated officer, this striking bust is a perfect commemorative of Lord Kitchener (1850 - 1916) from the Parian manufacturers Robinson & Leadbetter.
A stunningly high level of detail for which they were famed is displayed here in this piece, dated 1901.
In 1914 at the start of the First World War he became Secretary of State for War and in 1916 was en route to Russia to negotiate with Tsar Nicholas II when his ship tragically struck a German mine and sunk.
Kitchener was among the 737 that perished.
