A rare, late 18th Century Bust of Matthew Parker, Archbishop of Cantebury; religious historian and influencial theologian.
He was Archbishop during Elizabeth I reign, appointed because of Elizabeth's emotional attachment to him as he had been her mother's (Anne Boylen) favourite Chaplain.
He left a priceless collection of manuscripts and literary works to Corpus Christi College at Cambridge. The Library still bears his name; The Parker Library.
