Bronze Bookends of Dante and Raphael
A stunning pair of 19th century bronze bookends representing both art and literature; featuring two luminaries from either field.
Dimensions: 13cm x 16cm (each figure)
Known as Il Sommo Poeta (The Supreme Poet) and father of the Italian language, Dante depicted here in bronze sits brooding over his magnum opus 'Divina Commedia' (The Divine Comedy).
Raphael in contrast, sits on his right, looking hopefully, inspired as he holds an artists pad and stlyus in his hands. Together with Leonardo and Michaelangelo he forms the trinity of great masters from the Rennaisance period.
